Lutz Ahrens is an expert in analytical and environmental chemistry for emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalky substances (PFASs). His research is focused on the development of new analytical methods for quantification of emerging contaminants in water, soil, sediment, air and biota using advanced mass spectrometry methods, and application of these for transport and fate studies. He is author/coauthor of >50 peer-reviewed publications, with a Scopus h factor of 22. He is main-supervisor of 1 PhD student and co-supervisor of 3 PhD students. He is working in the following larger projects: SafeDrink, RedMic, POPscreen, FluorosImpact.
