How can a complex organism be created from a, more or less, uniform egg? This is both a very old and natural question, which is hard not to find interesting. The main objective of the course is to study certain fundamental biological questions where geometry and dynamics is put into focus. In the course, some of the current morphogenesis models will be presented and mathematical concepts, which might be useful for creating new models studying morphogenesis, will be discussed. Such mathematical tools are for example fractals, cellular automats, genetic algorithms, reaction-diffusion equations, etc.
