Spatially coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes exhibit capacity-approaching performance under computationally feasible message-passing decoding over a wide class of binary memoryless symmetric channels. Whereas their asymptotic performance is relatively well understood, much less is known about their behavior in the finite-length regime. This halfway seminar presents our efforts to tackle this problem and predict the finite-length error rates of SC-LDPC code ensembles over the binary erasure channel.
