Help shape and improve Your courses – Updates to the course evaluation process

Starting in Study Period 1 of the 2026/27 academic year, Chalmers is introducing an updated version of Survey & Report, the system used for course surveys and course evaluations. As part of this update, a new survey template with revised questions is also being introduced. Here is a summary of the most important information for you as a student.

Complete the course survey directly in Canvas

You can now complete the course survey directly through the Course Evaluation module in your course room in Canvas. As before, you can also respond using the personal link sent to you by email.

You can choose to answer only the question about your overall impression of the course if you wish

By answering the remaining questions and providing comments, you can give a more detailed account of your experiences and highlight areas for improvement.

Keep track of the response deadline

The course survey is normally distributed on the final day of the study period. For some courses, the survey may open up to 14 days earlier. The survey always closes 14 days after the final day of the study period, regardless of whether it was opened earlier. This applies to all study periods, including Study Period 4. During the response period, two reminders will be sent to students who have not yet completed the survey.

Your feedback and Student Representatives' participation make a difference

Your feedback helps identify what works well and what needs to be improved. At the course board meeting held after the course has ended, the survey results are discussed alongside the experiences of the student representatives and the examiner. We therefore encourage you to highlight both aspects of the course that should be maintained and specific suggestions for improvement.

Student representatives represent the entire group of students taking the course. If you are a student representative, your participation is important in ensuring that students' perspectives are heard and discussed with the examiner and the programme representative.

As a student, you can also share your feedback with the student representatives while the course is still ongoing. The mid-course meeting provides an opportunity to raise issues that may need attention during the remainder of the course. This means that feedback does not have to wait until the course has ended.

Access the results and follow the development of Your course

The course survey report, excluding free-text responses, is published in the Course Evaluation module in Canvas and here on the website. After the course board meeting, the approved meeting minutes are added to the report, and you will receive an email notification when they become available. The results of the previous course offering's evaluation must also be included in the course syllabus information document (Course PM) and presented at the next course introduction. This ensures that feedback is made available both to students who have completed the course and to future students.
