Five days in Milan turned out better than expected

Johanna was a first-year student at Chalmers when she seized the opportunity to take a five-day course in Milan through ENHANCE. She now encourages everyone to take the chance to try a short or long-term exchange programme whilst they are studying.

"The teaching was clear and easy to follow, even though I had only completed my first year of studies. Most of the other participants were master's students, but I still felt included and able to contribute. The topic quickly became engaging, and it was clear that the lecturers were both knowledgeable and genuinely invested in the course.

Working on the same group project throughout the week made us feel committed to the work and helped us build strong teamwork. The programme also gave me the opportunity to explore a field that I could see myself working in in the future, which I found especially valuable.

The best part of the exchange week was definitely the social experience. From the very beginning, the teachers made us feel welcome, and everyone in the class was eager to spend time together throughout the week. We participated in activities organised by the university as well as meeting up on our own. One of the highlights was visiting the rooftop terraces of the Duomo and attending a violin concert at sunset.

I would encourage anyone to take the opportunity to go on an exchange, in any form. Before the programme, I thought that five days sounded too short to make much of a difference. Instead, it turned out to be an intensive, rewarding and memorable experience that gave me far more than I had expected".

The best thing about the exchange week was definitely the social aspect. I’d recommend everyone to take the chance to go on an exchange!
