In spintronics, it leads to the possibility of converting a spin current into a charge current and vice-versa. I will show how the broken space symmetry within the crystal unit cell of a ferromagnet leads to the possibility of electrically manipulating its magnetisation via bulk spin-orbit torques [1,2] and of electrically reading its magnetisation both in static [3] and dynamic (magnon) [4] regimes. In the second part, I will show how adopting faster experimental approaches like time-domain THz spectroscopy gives us new tools for understanding the microscopy of spin-charge interconversion at interfaces with either ferromagnetic [5] or antiferromagnetic [6] dielectrics, helping pin down the factors that affect its efficiency.
