To claim your study place at Chalmers, you must be an active student as of the first semester after being admitted to a new programme. You must have knowledge of the terms and conditions and make sure that your study commitment meets the conditions stated below.

You yourself must contact the student guidance counsellor at your programme as soon as possible, in case of illness or other circumstance that could mean that you do not meet the conditions.

Terms and Conditions

Being an active student means meeting the following conditions:

  1. You must register for the courses in your curriculum, prior to commencing the semester.
The mandatory registration must be completed by the set date and in the manner specified by the University, prior to your first semester of a new programme.
  2. You must actively pursue full-time studies, throughout the first semester, on the programme to which you have been admitted.
Full-time studies mean being registered on courses of 30 credits in total per semester, during the first semester.
  3. You must complete at least 15 credits with at least a pass, during the first semester, on the programme to which you have been admitted.
    • For those admitted to the autumn semester, the re-sit examination days in January are included.
    • For those admitted to the spring semester, the re-sit examination days in August are included.
  4. Before the start of your second semester, you must register for the courses included in said semester, on the programme to which you have been admitted.
You must register by the set date and in the manner specified by the university.
  5. You must heed all summons and read information provided by your programme director, student guidance counsellor and Chalmers student administration throughout the entire study period. This means that you regularly, every week, read your e-mail and current information published at Chalmers.se and the section Your studies. You yourself are responsible for logging in to Ladok and registering the e-mail address at which you wish to be contacted, on "My information". You must stay reachable during the entire study period.

Footnotes

Should you fail to comply with the terms of the regulation, you may lose your study place. A decision to revoke your study place can be appealed. The appeal must be filed in writing with the university's registrar within three weeks from the when the decision was announced, e-mail: registrator@chalmers.se

For a student admitted to the later part of a programme at first cycle (to the second or third year of a Bachelor's level programme), an individual study plan is drawn up, which may mean deviations from the requirements in sections 2 and 3.

A student can be granted an individual study plan for personal reasons. An individual study plan may mean deviations from the requirements in paragraphs 2 and 3. It is the student's own responsibility to contact the student guidance counsellor at your programme as soon as a valid reason has arisen. Both parties are required to approve an individual study plan in consensus.

A leave of absence from studies can be granted at the earliest after the first semester of the programme to which you have been admitted. The student guidance counsellor can approve an application for a study leave.

The regulation has been decided by the vice president of education and lifelong learning and will apply until further notice, case nr C 2021-0932.
