The virtualization of cities offers great opportunities for urban
and participatory planning processes, in that it enhances our ability to
better understand, analyze and plan the resilience and sustainability
of cities. At the same time, the creation of virtual cities is linked to
a variety of academic and practical challenges which require expertise
from many different fields, including modelling, simulation, urban
planning, interaction design and computer science.
Our seminar brings together experts from research, industry and the public sector to present cutting-edge virtual city projects and discuss perspectives on the future of virtual cities.
