Such an embrace of maximum growth yields a misguided calculus for planning transport infrastructure. Rather than seeking to meet the demand for future mobility by reflexively expanding the quantity of infrastructure, there is a need to consider alternatives that can support a sustainable future and account for the ‘deep uncertainty’ surrounding future mobility needs and practices. By applying the 'half-life' concept to transport infrastructure, this presentation explores alternatives to extending its use over time that can open up new possibilities for generating and extending its value to society, largely by trying to introduce flexibility (or adaptability) into infrastructure’s design. This presentation aims to promote a conceptualization of a new approach for the design and provision of transport infrastructure.

MOSHE GIVONI
Moshe Givoni is head of the Transport Research Unit (TRU) and an Associate Professor at the Department of Geography and Human Environment, Tel-Aviv University. He is also an Honorary Research Associate at the Transport Studies Unit, University of Oxford where he was a Senior Researcher before joining Tel-Aviv University. He gained his PhD from University College London, and his MBA and before that BA in Economics and Geography from Tel-Aviv University. He previously held two Marie Curie Fellowships, including post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Spatial Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research interests all fall under the umbrella of "Moving towards Low Carbon Mobility" and focus on Public Transport, Conceptualization of Travel Time, Adaptive Planning of Transport Infrastructure, Policy Packaging and more. Moshe serves as an Associate-Editor for Transport Reviews journal. He is currently on Sabbatical leave at Aalto University, Finland. https://www.chalmers.se/sv/styrkeomraden/energi/kalendarium/Sidor/Call-for-proposal_IDC-2019-20.aspxhttps://www.chalmers.se/sv/styrkeomraden/energi/kalendarium/Sidor/Call-for-proposal_IDC-2019-20.aspxCall for proposal, SO Energi: Interdisciplinary collaboration projects 2019-2020.

C:a 1,5 MSEK/år.
