Transport phenomena, i.e. transport of momentum, heat and mass, is of fundamental importance for research in chemical engineering as well as in applications for example in design of separation equipment, chemical reactors and heat exchangers.
The aim of this course is to give an in depth understanding of transport phenomena and how it is applied. Mathematical modelling is central.
We will use the textbook Transport Phenomena, where the analogy between the three transport processes is stressed. Additional material in advanced mass transfer, turbulence and numerical solution of the transport equations will also be treated.
Active participation in seminars. Final oral examination.
MSc in Chemical Engineering (not compulsory).
Ten half-day seminars.
Application is made by sending an email to Anders Rasmuson, not later than August 24.
R.B. Bird, W.E. Stewart och E.N. Lightfoot: Transport Phenomena 2nd ed., Wiley 2002 (a few copies ordered to Cremona) and additional texts.
