Human anatomy and physiology

Om kursen

Learning objectives
The main objective is to give the participants an increased understanding of the anatomy and physiology.

The course includes to a large degree self studies and seminars in which the biomechanical aspects of the subjects are to be discussed in order to make the new knowledge more applicable to the research field of injury biomechanics.

The course is meant to give the PhD candidates an increased awareness of the complexity of the human body and give the candidates a broader perspective on the topic of impact biomechanics and injury prevention.

All participants are required to participate actively in the discussions and share their own experience from reading the book and other material.

The group of PhD candidates meets 8 times. One or two pre-selected book chapters are to be read and will be discussed in the meeting. Both the content as well as the biomechanical aspects of the topic will be discussed.

This course included lectures, individual reading and discussion. The focus is on:
  • Cells and example of types of tissues structure and function
  • Bone, Joints, Muscle tissue anatomy, physiology and injury mechanisms and repair
  • Nervous system anatomy, physiology and injury mechanisms and repair
  • Cardiovascular and respiratory system anatomy, physiology and injury mechanisms
  • Other maintenance systems of the body
Requirements are active participation in minimum 6 seminars.
