Solving real-life business cases? Sign me up!

As a person who loves challenges and has an entrepreneurial spirit, I want to create value for people through the development of technology-based businesses. Studying this programme has been a perfect match for me.

After completing my logistics engineering degree in México, I was looking for a Master’s Programme that could combine my two main interests: technology and business development. I wanted a University with quality education, and with a program that had notable professors and people in the field of entrepreneurship. I decided to study Entrepreneurship and Business Design at Chalmers because, simply, it was the best in all discernible aspects. A university with enormous academic reputation, a School of Entrepreneurship (CSE) with more than 20 years of experience in the vibrant city of Gothenburg.

After almost finishing my first year I can tell you what the best things about this education are. The first one is diversity when it comes to backgrounds, cultures, and competences in my programme. While working together with engineering, law, business, and biotechnology students I spend my time with creative, inspiring, and highly ambitious people. I am constantly surrounded by a lot of enthusiasm, energy, and passion.
My classmates and I work in small teams solving real-world business cases where we apply all our knowledge and collaborate with companies in innovative technology areas. For example, during the first semester, we were given a real patented technology developed at Chalmers within biotech and we needed to develop a business case around it. It’s all about a hands-on method, teamwork, cooperation, and finding ways to create a sustainable business.

An additional thing that makes this programme so unique from traditional Master’s studies is that students that decide to choose the Venture Creation Track, like me, are required to co-create a real tech-based venture during their second year. The ideas usually come from the university or industry. With support from the department, we try to transform meaningful research into reality through the creation of impactful projects. An example of this is Mimbly, funded in 2017 they are creating sustainable water solutions and are listed as one of the 100 Startups in the Nordic countries that could have the biggest impact in the world.

At the end, this education is what you make of it- the more you put into it, the more you will get, but I can promise you that if you decide to enrol in Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship you will have challenging and incredible moments at the same time, with the support of a faculty that will work their best to see you succeed.

For me it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made, I have met amazing classmates, professors and people with so much energy that have pushed me out of my comfort zone while gaining friends for life. Now I’m looking forward to the second year where I will work on the creation of our startup together with my teammates Felix and Chris. But that’s a story for another time.
