My name is Yanuar Tri Aditya Nugraha. It's quiet a long name for Sweden's standard. But I'd rather to be called just by Yanu or Adit. I am 27 years old (as 2015) and I came from Indonesia to pursue a master degree on Computer Systems and Networks master programme at Chalmers University of Technology. It's a good specialization track where I'll have opportunities to work with several companies, e.g. Ericsson and Volvo for thesis project and even further collaboration later on. I have a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia. The Highlight of My Life I was born in a rural city of Madiun, East Java, Indonesia. With my family has no background whatsoever about technology and stuff, I spent a lot of time and effort to bring those stuffs as my passion of life. From handmade lemon car, flying kites, poorly designed printed circuit-board with untidy and inexperienced soldering, to computer architecture, real-time fluid simulation, next generation networks, GPU computing, advanced parallel real-time systems and more to comes idea beyond imagination, that is where I put my love into.
I've Found the Hidden Gem
I am highly aware about the condition of Indonesia right now. It is now fourth ranked country in the world in total population. Somehow, I have to find a way to stand tall amongst others. Pursuing master degree is my primary way for that. While people think about USA, Australia, Japan, Netherland, Germany, etc, I'd rather be different and decide to pick Sweden as my destination. Sweden easily topped the chart in my mind. With lots of numbers and figures regarding how good Sweden was at technology research and the application of it, I also recognised several world class companies from Sweden, e.g. Ericsson, Volvo, Scania, SKF, Spotify, DICE EA, Skype, IKEA, Koenigsegg, Saab, H&M, Electrolux, Hasselblad and many more. Thus I decided and now, here I am, happily studying at Chalmers University of Technology. It is a time full of pride and joy for me.
365 days in Chalmers
It’s been a year for me now in Chalmers. I must say that Chalmers is challenging. The study pace is fast, everything is lab or project based and I have to say, the connection and relationship between university and industries is really close. I'm gonna prepare for thesis and I am happy to know that Chalmers offers lots of opportunities for students to write industrial thesis.
Göteborg: Ideal City
As the second biggest city in Sweden, Göteborg is full of liveliness, pretty landscapes with lot of lakes, islands and the sea. You can find pretty much of everything, from cheap supply of foods and second hand markets. I love the fact that there are lot of lakes and forest around the city. No wonder, right now I am joining Gothenburg Hiking Group where people hike and sleep under the stars in the weekend, of course when the weather is reasonable.
