Rui Liang

Hi! I’m Rui, a Master’s student in Electric Power Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. I am 23 years old and I come from Qingdao, a beautiful coastal city in China, where I also got my Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Automation from Ocean University of China.

Swimming is one of my favorite sports and I also like playing table tennis and badminton. I am interested in digital products and I made a lot of electronic stuff using microcontrollers when I was an undergraduate. Designing printed circuit boards usually makes me tired but I enjoy it. Weibo, a microblogging website in China, similar to Twitter, is so attractive to me that I browse it every day. By the way, remember to follow Chalmers on Weibo!
I had never thought I would come to Sweden to continue my studies until I took part in the Swedish Scholarship Challenge and I received the third place in the competition. It seems that Chalmers was the right destination for me. I am lucky and really satisfied with my decision.

I chose Chalmers because...

Swedish industry is very developed and the country is so innovative that many well-known companies are founded here. Chalmers, which is one of the best engineering and technology universities in Sweden, attracts me a lot by its high teaching quality and reputation. What’s more, Chalmers has a close connection with industry which means there are many opportunities for students to participate in industrial practice. It is of great importance for us to master professional skills. That’s why I choose Chalmers to pursue my Master’s degree.

My life at Chalmers so far

I have to say that I really like the course structure at Chalmers. Besides lectures and tutorials, we have lab projects, lab demonstrations and study visits. The purpose of doing these is to make us totally understand what we have learned and guide us how to take theory into practice. It is important for us to exactly master skills that we need in our future careers.
There are a lot of parties and activities for us at Chalmers and in Gothenburg as well. We are free to choose all of them. If you come to Chalmers, you will find that your life here is rich and colorful and I am sure you will enjoy the life in Gothenburg, which is a peaceful and beautiful city.

To be an outstanding engineer

The most important thing that I have to do now is study hard. My dream is to pursue a career in the industry and become an outstanding engineer in my field. I will study hard in order to face future challenges.

I am happy to share with you

It is a great honor to be one of the student ambassadors. I have a great passion for promoting Chalmers in China in order to make more and more excellent Chinese students learn more about this university and come here to study and do research. On Weibo you will read not only about student life at Chalmers, but also about interesting things that happen here.  It is also my pleasure to share useful information about application with you who are planning to study at Chalmers.
