Centres and infrastructures

The activities within the various centres, infrastructures and other collaboration platforms connected to the department, constitute important areas for collaboration in research and education, which creates great benefit for society.

Together with our partners in the industry, we work with several of our present and future societal challenges and solve problems by contributing new knowledge that is useful in new methodology, new standards, manuals, guidelines and working methods.

Centre for Housing Architecture

CBA enables collaboration between industry and academia with joint research applications and development projects. CBA's more than 35 members include the large architectural offices, the public housing companies, the large housing cooperative-organisations, construction companies and authorities.

Centre for Healthcare Architecture

CVA is Sweden’s leading center for creation, translation, exchange and dissemination of knowledge about healthcare environments. The center is a national platform for knowledge exchange. Focus is to contribute to a person-centered, efficient and safe care. CVA engages in research, contributes to education and runs continuing education. Active collaboration with Sahlgrenska Academy and organizations within and related to the healthcare sector is central for relevance and utilization of research.

Digital Twin Cities Centre

Digital Twin Cities Centre (DTCC) is a national competence centre funded by Vinnova and hosted by Chalmers University of Technology. DTCC is devoted to the study of digital twins of cities as a foundation for digital planning, design, construction, and management of sustainable, intelligent, and liveable cities. Within DTCC, more than 30 partners from academia, industry, and the public sector collaborate in projects that explore different aspects and implementations of digital twins for cities.

DRICKS

A platform for collaboration in drinking water research with the aim to contribute to a more safer and sustainable drinking water supply. 

FRIST

FRIST is a competence center for sustainable treatment of contaminated materials and environments. We cooperate with public and private organizations in doctoral projects, via industrial assistant professors, and through contract research and masters studies.

HSB Living Lab

HSB Living Lab is a unique research and collaboration project between Chalmers and 11 other partners in the built environment sector. The Living Lab is a residential building with 29 apartments on the university campus in Gothenburg.

Infravis

National research infrastructure for data visualization. The 9 partner universities are coordinated by Chalmers University of Technology.

The Competence Center for Structural Engineering

A forum for collaboration between the construction sector and academia. The aim of The center for Structural Engineering is to provide a base for efficient and wide-scale collaboration between the various players in the construction industry in order to help develop and strengthen expertise in structural engineering technology. The starting point is for Chalmers to work with companies in the construction sector, along with representatives for the large-scale users, to create, support and expand their competence in the field.
