Restricted access

The observatory area is protected by Swedish law.

The observatory area is protected according to law ("Act on Protection of Research Sensitive to Disturbance, 2006:449"). The County Administration of Halland has in accordance with this law decided about restricted access to the observatory area (see map below). This means that it is prohibited to enter the observatory area. Access to the area is limited to employees, invited guests and deliveries; for others a special written permit from Onsala Space Observatory is needed. It is forbidden to use mobile telephones and other radio transmitters in the observatory area, due to radio interference problems. Please turn off your mobile phone when you enter the observatory area.

The map shown here shows in red the area with prohibition on entry. (The green line marks the border of Svängehallar-Fjärehals nature reserve.)
