The sensing pillar of the Wallenberg Center of Quantum Technology (WACQT) is opening a call for funding of four to five PhD students within the field of Quantum Sensing and metrology.
The call closes on June 18.
Who can apply:
Any researcher with a permanent position at a university in Sweden.
We will prioritize applications from those who do not have project funding from WACQT on the date the call closes.
How to apply:
Submit your application to Johan Veiga Benesch, johan.benesch@chalmers.se.
The call closes on Thursday June 18.
What should the application contain:
Only one document needs to be submitted:
A project plan describing the proposed project and providing a clear motivation for why the project meets the evaluation criteria of the call, see below. The maximum length of the plan is two pages, including references.
What is the overarching motivation for the call:
To strengthen Swedish excellence in quantum sensing research, by supporting promising Swedish research in the field, selected by open and transparent processes engaging the entire Swedish quantum sensing community.
What are the evaluation criteria:
Scientific excellence in the field of quantum sensing and metrology.
Strengthening and complementing existing, excellent quantum sensing and metrology research in Sweden.
Financial requisites:
KAW 2024.0409 (WACQT period 3) reimburses salary and a maximum of 52.5% social security contributions (LKP). The part of social security contributions that exceeds 52.5% must be co-financed by the higher education institution. Operating costs, for example travel and materials, are reimbursed at 100% up to the amount granted for each grant. Premises costs are reimbursed at 50% of the booked cost, however a maximum of 7.5% of the salary cost. Indirect costs (OH) must be booked, and a maximum of 17.5% of salary costs as indirect costs.
End date of support:
Only costs incurred up to March 31 2030, the last date of WACQT’s final funding period, can be requested. That implies that the applicant must be willing to take over the full economical responsibility for the PhD student from April 1 2030. Note that during the funding period, the last date for requesting costs might be moved to a later point in time. If that occurs, the date for the applicant to take over economic responsibility will be moved forward in time accordingly.
Detailed information concerning what costs can be requested and the economic responsibility of the applicant after March 2030 will be communicated to the individual applicants, once the funding decisions have been taken.
Evaluation:
The projects will be evaluated by a group of WACQT researchers (non-applicants of the call). The decision will be announced before the end of August. No motivation for the decision or feedback on the applications will be given.
