In the Construction Laboratory, testing is conducted on structures and structural components related to the building and civil engineering sector, supporting the research carried out at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The primary application area for the department’s research is infrastructure, with a particular focus on bridges.
The Construction Laboratory is closely linked to the experimental activities within the Division of Structural Engineering. We perform both static and fatigue tests, working mainly with large-format materials such as steel, concrete, wood, and composite materials—typically in the form of beams, slabs, or walls.
We primarily conduct internal testing within the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE). Subject to availability, we also undertake assignments for other departments at Chalmers and for external clients. For inquiries, please contact Sebastian Almfeldt.
Examples of Services Offered:
- Testing of concrete strength (cubes/cylinders)
- Testing of large structural elements, e.g., in 3-point bending
