The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) has plans for huge
investments in Norwegian road network. The upgrading of the E39 from
Trondheim along the coast down to Kristiansand, the southern tip of Norway, requires construction of new bridges and tunnels cross
eight fjords.
NPRA works to provide a safe, environmentally friendly,
efficient and universally designed road transport system that meets
Norway's needs for transport and contributes to regional development.
Now NPRA is making sure it has the skills that requires through a joint
research agreement with Chalmers. Together, NPRA and Chalmers intend to
jointly strengthen and develop education, research and innovation within
the road infrastructure area in a long term perspective.
NPRA has a vision of climate-neutral roads. Chalmers researchers have been commissioned to devise a number of different scenarios for a safe, environmentally friendly, efficient and universally designed road network.
