Abstract:
The objective of this thesis is to explore the potential of repurposing onboard charging electrical power supply (OCEPS) to DC chargers, with a strong emphasis on circular economy principles and sustainability. By examining the existing design and efficiency of the product, this study aims to contribute to the development of a business model that aligns with market demands and advances the principles of circular economy. Moreover, the research conducts a thorough examination of existing OCEPS designs and their limitations. This analysis is crucial for proposing improvements that enhance overall efficiency, calculate losses accurately, and optimize performance. The intention is to ensure that repurposed DC chargers not only match technical requirements but also surpass previous models in energy efficiency and reliability.
Key Presentation Highlights:
• Analysis of market studies to identify the demand for repurposed OCEPS in the context of circular economy principles.
• Examination of existing designs and their limitations, followed by proposed improvements for enhanced efficiency, loss calculations and performance.
• Development of Matlab/Simulink model to validate the working of the charger.
• Lifetime calculation and testing for the charger.
• Creating a proposed repurposed model and compare it with the market competitors based on cost to performance ratio, weight, volume, etc.
• Discussion on the development of a sustainable business model for the repurposing of OCEPS to DC chargers
