- Professor, Terahertz- och millimetervågsteknik, Mikroteknologi och nanovetenskap
Jan Stake is Professor in Terahertz Electronics and is the Head of the Terahertz and Millimetre Wave Laboratory at the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience. He was born in Uddevalla, Sweden, in 1971 and received the degrees of M.Sc. in electrical engineering and PhD in microwave electronics from the Chalmers University of Technology in 1994 and 1999, respectively.
His research involves several aspects of terahertz techniques, science, and applications. The main goal is to create efficient and integrated components for the part of the electromagnetic spectrum (ca. 0.3-10 THz), where optical and microwave techniques meet and explore new applications using terahertz waves. This includes high-frequency semiconductor devices, graphene electronics, terahertz circuits, submillimetre wave measurement techniques, and terahertz systems.
Jan Stake has extensive experience from research supervision and research leadership in academic, institutes, and industry projects. From 2016 to 2018, Prof. Stake served as Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology. He teaches in the Department’s PhD School and several courses in the Wireless, Photonics and Space Engineering programme.
