MMA200 Advanced Linear and Multilinear Algebra 7.5 hec

The course gives a deeper understanding of vector spaces and linear maps, motivated partly by higher differential calculus. We also explain how the tensor calculus in mechanics and relativity theory can be made independent of the choice of coordinates, by using universal constructions from algebra. Further, you will study Clifford-algebras and spinors, which are needed to describe spin in quantum mechanics. Other automorphic groups that appear in mathematical physics will also be discussed.
