We are a division that researches and teaches about technical communication, scientific writing and the relationship between communication and learning. The division operates in undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral programmes, and also provides commissioned education and courses for teachers and researchers.
We design courses and training in collaboration with Heads of Subjects and Heads of Programmes to provide support in discipline-specific writing and learning. We also provide elective courses for students at Chalmers. All our courses aim to produce independent and reflective students and promote lifelong learning.
The Chalmers Writing Centre (CWC) is part of the Specialist Language and Communication division. At the CWC, students can book writing assistance sessions with trained student tutors. More information is available on the CWC website (PLEASE NOTE! You are leaving chalmers.se)
Our research in linguistics and educational science includes a number of subjects, such as genre pedagogy, English Medium Instruction and the integration between language and learning. The division’s employees are involved in several collaboration and research projects, national and international networks, and internal projects at Chalmers.
