Prof Anders Ynnerman, Norrköping Visualization Center, Linköping UniversityTitle: Visual RevolutionAbstract:
This presentation will take its starting point in an overview of the rapidly increasingly data flows that are handled in visualisation pipelines and how data reduction and feedback loops are used to enable human decision making and interaction. The talk will then present aspects of the ongoing visual revolution such as: visual interfaces to autonomous systems and the creation of intelligent cognitive companions, visual healthcare where the overflow of image based data requires increasingly sophisticated visualisation methodology, and the use of advanced visualization in public engagement in science and technology. Brief bio:
Professor Anders Ynnerman received a Ph.D. in physics from Gothenburg University, Sweden. From 1997 to 2002 he directed the Swedish National Supercomputer Centre and from 2002 to 2006 he directed the Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC). Since 1999 he has held the chair in scientific visualization at Linköping University and since 2010 he is the director of the Norrköping Visualization Center C.
