Title: Evolved stars and their place in the Universe

Abstract: Low-mass evolved stars in the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) have a profound effect on the evolution of galaxies throughout the universe. They produce a large amount new elements and replenish the ISM of galaxies with processed stellar material and stellar dust, affecting the chemical evolution of the ISM, the evolution of dust, and ultimately star and planet formation. I will talk about some of the research on AGB stars that I and the evolved stars group at Chalmers have been evolved in, and how this research connects to the role of AGB stars in the universe.
