Wind and solar in power markets – an introduction

Abstract:

Why is the electricity price low when it is windy? How and when do power producers make money? Why and how were Swedish electricity prices affected by the gas crisis even if Swedish consumers hardly consumed any electricity from gas? These questions and more will be answered during this lecture which starts from scratch. As a bonus you will be able to impress your friends by using terms such as Levelized Cost of Electricity, marginal pricing and cannibalization effect.
