Abstract: 

"Industries today encounter various challenges and uncertainties, including the shift toward low or zero-carbon production and energy supply insecurity due to rising demand in the society. The ongoing energy transition involves exploring pathways such as carbon capture and storage (ccs), energy storage, chemical recycling, smart grids, and efficient facility energy management. These changes require industries to step out of their comfort zones and invest significantly in new processes, which poses business risks if tested on site.
Collaboration between industry and research plays a crucial role in fast industrial development. Large-scale research facilities serve as vital links in the development chain.

Chalmers Kraftcentralen is an example of a research arena that facilitates collaboration projects and highlights the importance of innovation, research, and technical advancements. However, such research units also face significant challenges.

In my lecture, I will discuss the bridging role of industrial-sized research sites in technology development, presenting examples of directly implemented research findings into industrial processes while addressing the challenges encountered by these research units".
