Abstrakt finns enbart på engelska: Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday educational practice. Teachers increasingly encounter AI-generated submissions instead of students’ own work, and the question is no longer whether AI will affect higher education, but who will shape that change. If teachers do not take the lead in developing AI-driven educational methods, they risk losing control over a central part of the learning process.
In this talk, we present the first implementation of an AI tutor integrated into the department’s web-based Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for statistics teaching. The focus is on a new methodology for AI-assisted teaching, including mechanisms for pedagogical guidance, quality control, and feedback. We will demonstrate the system in operation, discuss its technical design, and share initial experiences from using the AI tutor with about 200 students across two statistics courses.
This presentation is aimed at everyone who is reflecting on how AI is changing education, and on what university teaching may become in the next few years.
