Abstract:
Wireless Power Transmission, or WPT is the ability to transfer energy without physical contact. There are multiple ways to transfer energy wirelessly, some of these ways are: induction, light, vibrations and radio frequencies. WPT has become more common, relevant and efficient over the last decade and are often seen in both industrial and casual settings. It is used to charge phones, cars, buildings, calculators, industrial machines and has many more use cases.

FlexLink AB is a company focusing on making conveyor belt solutions for customers creating a plethora of products in areas of medicine, food and essentials to name a few. They have been looking into making their conveyor belt links smarter, by using sensors inside of the links. This requires some form of energy transfer to the link and since the link is moving it is not possible to have a physical connection.

This project will focus on finding out if it is possible to have WPT within the small space in a conveyor belt link. There will be a comparison between some WPT-solutions, then one solution will be selected and researched further. A prototype will be built to test the solution. As the space inside the link will be very small and a compact circuit would increase cost and lead time, the prototype is allowed to be larger. Scalability of components will be kept in mind to showcase if the solution is applicable with custom circuits made for the conveyor belt link.
