Abstract:

Architectural design today must respond to increasing resource scarcity and material waste while continuing to develop meaningful spatial and material expression, since architectural form, material character, and aesthetic decisions work together with technical systems to determine the overall quality, usability, and resilience of built environments.

This lecture presents my integrated research program, which brings together the latest advances in digital technologies, bio‑based material development, and circular material practices to support architectural work that is both environmentally responsible and expressive in form, texture, and detail. I will also demonstrate how my work employs a hybrid methodological approach that combines artistic architectural design research with engineering and materials science experimentation, enabling rigorous yet exploratory investigations into how reclaimed materials and bio‑based composites can be digitallytransformed and fabricated for architectural application.

Drawing on my latest research projects, I will show how computational workflows, robotic fabrication strategies, and biogenic material innovation can produce resource‑efficient and materially expressive designs that advance circular architectural practices of repair, remanufacturing, and bio‑based design.
