Om Gothenburg Gateways:
These events showcase the creative works of 17 architectural students from the Public Buildings Studio of the Chalmers University of Technology Master's Programme in Architecture and Urban Design.

The authors will present their original design proposals for new gateway structures in Gothenburg, focusing on renovating or expanding the city's international transportation hubs. These hubs serve as symbolic gateways that welcome and bid farewell to travelers, leaving a lasting impression on both tourists and locals. However, the current transportation hubs in Gothenburg, while practical, lack the wow factor expected of entry points to a city.

Their projects explore the potential of timber as a construction material for future monumental structures. Timber has gained popularity due to its versatility and sustainability, with research and development advancements in engineered timber products like cross-laminated timber (CLT). By considering the challenges of using timber to create large-scale structures capable of accommodating heavy equipment and crowds, such as transportation hubs, we delve into the interconnectedness of spatial, structural, and tectonic concepts.
