The application process

Tuition fees
Some students are required to pay tuition fees to study at Chalmers. Here, you can find what applies to you as well as information about payment deadlines and conditions.

Scholarships for fee-paying students
Scholarships are a great source of funding for prospective master's students who are liable to pay tuition fees. Some of these are administrated by Chalmers and some by other foundations and associations. Additional scholarships may be added to the list and you are therefore advised to check this webpage regularly.

Validation of prior learning
If you do not fulfil the entry requirements through formal qualifications, you can apply for a validation of your prior learning. This means your accumulated knowledge and experience, which may have been acquired in different ways, for example through work experience, staff training or other courses.

Merit rating
All students who apply on time for a master’s programme, and who meet the general and specific entry requirements, compete with one another for the places that are available at Chalmers. Places are offered based on the merit ratings of the eligible applicants (also known as grade tariff). The merit rating is based on the grades achieved during the Bachelor education, and other factors that the university has chosen to consider.
