A valid offer of admission
If your offer of admission is conditional due to the tuition fee requirement, the fee must have been paid in full before the deadline to keep the offer valid. When the tuition fee has been paid or if you are exempted from a fee your offer is only valid up until the last day to complete the mandatory on-line registration of your new programme. Neglecting either to pay the tuition fee (if required to do so) or to complete the mandatory on-line registration on time means your offer of admission will be forfeit.
If you are intending to decline the offer of a study place, please follow the instructions at universityadmissions.se. Once you have declined, the offer is deleted permanently. You are welcome to apply to Chalmers again another year.

Apply for deferment
Under certain extraordinary circumstances it is possible to defer the start of your studies to the start of the next academic year. In such a case the reason must be well documented and possible to verify.
If you are required to pay a tuition fee, the fee must have been paid in full, before the stipulated deadline at your invoice.
If you have a valid reason you may apply at mid-August by doing the following:
- Specify the subject "Deferment of studies to the next academic year".
- State the reason and attach any relevant documentation to prove the reason, such as certificates. Any certificates must be possible to verify. Contact information is therefore necessary.
- Include your personal data (date of birth YYMMDD, name and the application number from your account at universityadmissions.se).
- Send the application and attachments at mid-August by e-mail to email@example.com.
If approved, a decision will be sent from Chalmers admissions to you by e-mail. A Deferment of studies to the next academic year is only valid if approved by Chalmers admissions.
Once the deferment is approved you cannot claim the study place or begin your studies during the deferment period (one academic year) without any justifiable valid reason and only if there is an available study place.
Someone with an approved deferment of studies cannot under any circumstances claim a refund of the tuition fee
. No refund is possible after the first day of the semester.
you have been offered a scholarship administrated by Chalmers, the
scholarship itself cannot be deferred. If the deferment is approved, you may re-apply for a scholarship with no priority.
Invalid reasons for deferment are such as not finding housing/accommodation and the
personal economic situation (including not being offered a scholarship). The Corona outbreak is not a valid reason for deferment, however it may be a valid reason for a
refund (prior to the start of the semester). The Corona outbreak and its consequences on the teaching form (a mixture of campus-based and remote education with some parts on campus and some parts online, in order to adapt to the current situation) is not a valid reason for deferment.
Claim the study place for the next academic year when granted a Deferment
To begin your studies, you must claim your offer by re-apply to the same programme at universityadmissions.se/ antagning.se according to the instructions stated in the deferment decision. Other condition such as the applicant must contact Chalmers Admissions via email is also stated in the deferment decision. The copy of the deferment decision must be submitted together with the application at universityadmissions.se/antagning.se and it must be submitted before the official deadline of that application period.
Take note, If you have been offered a scholarship administrated by Chalmers, the scholarship cannot be deferred. Being granted a deferment means you may re-apply for a scholarship with no priority.
