The research conducted at the division is very broad, ranging from basic to applied research with a direct connection to societal needs. Our main research areas described below include computational mathematics, optimisation, biomathematics, statistics, and data science, and have a strong and active PhD program related to these fields. Our broad expertise and interdisciplinary focus have led to strong national and international collaborations.
We work closely with universities around the world, as well as with other departments at the University of Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, and several of Chalmers’ Areas of Advance. Our researchers contribute to innovation and the dissemination of knowledge, not only within academia but also through collaboration with industry and the surrounding society. Our research projects have led to commercialisation and the founding of successful companies.
