Six Chalmers students are currently working on a high jump project on behalf of the Swedish Athletics Federation. They are doing the project as a Bachelor's thesis, with the goal of developing a user-friendly technology, a prototype that can easily be used in everyday life to give athletes and coaches better opportunities for analysis and development.

Chalmers often collaborates with athletes, coaches, industry representatives and sports associations to improve athletes' performance, but also safety aspects in the world of sports. There are many experienced researchers, but students also play a major role in Chalmers’s work within the field of sports and technology. Through bachelor thesis and degree projects, they are offered to participate in sports-related research. There is also an elective so-called Tracks course planned for autumn 2023: Digitalization in sports - from physics to innovation, open to all Chalmers students from year 2.

– Sports projects are often very popular and have proven to be a good way for students to put their technical skills into practice and develop them in a subject area that they are passionate about. Student projects are also appreciated by our partners. In some cases, the students' work has led to the creation of new companies," says Dan Kuylenstierna, Associate Professor at Chalmers.
