On 9-15 June, the colours of the rainbow will shine in Gothenburg, during the annual West Pride week, to celebrate and promote the rights and visibility of LGBTQI people. Chalmers is a proud sponsor for the eleventh year in a row.
“For us, it is obvious to be committed to equality and to celebrate the equal value of all people,”
says Maria Elmquist, Deputy President responsible for leadership and equality. “At Chalmers, everyone should be treated with respect, regardless of who you are. I hope there will be many of us, both students and employees, who walk together under the Chalmers banner in the parade to show that we stand up for these fundamental values.”
The Pride parade through central Gothenburg will take place on Saturday 14 June. We gather at Chalmersplatsen at 11:30 and then walk together to Götaplatsen, where from 12:00 there will be music and dancing. The parade starts at 13:00 in the direction of Gustav Adolfs Torg, where there will be a parade reception.
The first 200 people who sign up will receive a cool parade kit including this year's Chalmers Pride t-shirt and some refreshments to keep you energised along the parade route. Register now – first come, first served to get a parade kit!
Even if you do not register in advance, you are of course welcome to march under the Chalmers banner. Or, if you prefer to stand along the parade route, you can collect a small Chalmers flag at the gathering on Chalmersplatsen to wave in the crowd.
During West Pride, the Pride flag will be raised on Chalmers campus. The flag symbolises human rights, the equal worth of all individuals, and the freedom to love whoever you want.
