Chalmers Jubilee Professors are designated annually by the President of Chalmers and shall “add new skills and strengthen the university's international relations”. Lori A. Brown is a Distinguished Professor from Syracuse University, NY, USA. Through design research, writing, and advocacy, Brown is transforming architecture into a more diverse discipline that responds to contemporary social and political conditions.

 – As co-founder of ArchiteXX, a New York City-based non-profit gender equity organisation for women in architecture, she bridges the academy and practice and raises awareness of women’s significant contributions to the built environment, says Isabelle Doucet, Professor at the Division of Architectural Theory and Methods.

While her research, pedagogy, and academic leadership bring new knowledge to ACE within the areas of architecture theory, design, and methods, her work contributes to the broader gender, diversity and equity ambitions of Genie at Chalmers and ACE and speaks to the broader research and teaching agendas across ACE. Distinguished Professor Brown will be hosted by Professor Isabelle Doucet, Theory and Methods Division.

Chalmers Jubilee Professorship was instituted at the time for Chalmers’ 150-year celebration in 1979 – as a gift from the Swedish government. A tradition was established, and the President of Chalmers now appoints a few Jubilee Professors annually, funded by Chalmers.
