Join Chalmers Academic Excellence Visiting Professor Programme
Chalmers is on a long-term journey to become a world-class technical university. We are strengthening our research environments and are looking for established professors who want to contribute to academic development, international collaboration and societal impact.
As a Visiting Professor, you will collaborate with one of our departments or research divisions, contribute to new and ongoing research initiatives, and take part in a vibrant academic community. The scope and duration of the appointment are agreed in dialogue with the host department.
The Academic Excellence Visiting Professor Programme is a strategic component of Chalmers’ internationalisation strategy. The programme aims to strengthen academic excellence by attracting internationally recognised academic leaders who can contribute to the long-term development of Chalmers’ research, education and international collaborations. Beyond individual academic achievements, the programme seeks to create lasting value through strategic partnerships, scientific leadership, mentorship and the development of strong academic environments.
Who we are looking for
This is an open call aimed at established researchers who have an outstanding record of scientific achievement and are internationally recognised as an academic leader within their field and who wish to spend a period of time in Gothenburg.
Only a limited number of appointments will be made through this highly selective programme. Research infrastructures
The concept of a research infrastructure includes everything from advanced real or virtual labs to testbeds, large databases, computer capacity for large-scale calculations and magnificent research facilities. In short, everything necessary to conduct truly outstanding research.

Our vision: World in progress
The world is complex and uncertain. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria threaten to make routine surgery deadly again. Technology is taking leaps we can barely comprehend. Geopolitical tensions show us that Europe must be able to stand on its own. But the world is not done. It’s in progress.

Reputation and ranking
Chalmers University of Technology is one of the leading technical universities in the Nordic region, with a strong reputation for applied research, close collaboration with industry and a clear focus on sustainability. In national surveys, Chalmers is consistently rated as the best known and most highly trusted university in Sweden and gets top scores on learning by students in the International Students Barometer.
