Our GMDSS simulator (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) creates opportunities for our students to learn to manage all GMDSS equipment for ROC and GOC equipped vessels.
Call procedure, emergency and safety procedures are practiced with different communication games. "Live Calls" and traffic towards real coastal radio stations via VHF, MF, HF and satellite systems are made on our ship radio stations. This provides a greater understanding of how radio systems operate in reality, than the simulated environment can provide. IMO requirements for ROC (Model Course 1.26) and GOC (Model Course 1.25) are met by this simulator and its ship stations. The range of courses is addressed to both external courses as well as the programmes. Our radio simulator is manufactured by Transas.
