Problems with large matrices that have few non-zero elements arise from approximation of differential equations, networking problems, and linear optimization. In this course, you will learn how to use numerical methods to obtain approximate solutions to systems of linear equations and eigenvalue problems for these kinds of matrices. Computer exercises and problem-solving will give you the skills to use these methods, study their resource use, and judge how reliable your results are.
