Transport Analysis works for the Swedish government, and the work is based on the objectives of economic efficiency and the sustainable provision of transport services for people and business throughout the country. Included in the mission is developing transport policy by reviewing, analysing, and evaluating proposed and implemented measures, as well as current business environment and future prospects within transport policy. The agency is also responsible for official statistics in transport and communication, and disseminate knowledge and results of activities to other authorities and regional stakeholders and organisations.

To aid them in their work, Trafikanalys have a scientific council, whose members have a background in transport, economy and statistics. Since (date) Sonia Yeh, at the division of Physical Resource Theory at Chalmers Department of Space, Earth and Environment, is a member of the council. Her areas of expertise include energy economics and energy system modeling, alternative transportation fuels and consumer behavior and mobility.

"In the council, I look forward to contributing to the assurance of high-quality standards in Trafikanalys’ evaluation and analysis methods. This will mean extensive reading and research to remain current with scientific knowledge in our domain and to thoroughly understand the specifics of the contexts we are dealing with".

In your view, what are the main challenges for transport policy in the coming years?

"Considering the recent experiences of severe winter disruptions (snökaos), one of the foremost challenges for transport policy in the coming years is enhancing system resilience. How does the government strategize to bolster the robustness of our transport systems against extreme weather events and ensure swift, coordinated responses to minimize disruptions when they do occur".

"Additionally, the drive towards sustainable, fossil-free transport remains a pressing concern. Addressing these urgent matters is a top priority, and I am keen to contribute to Trafikanalys’ efforts from a government agency perspective", says Sonia Yeh, who is appointed to the council for a two-year period.
