Following the renovation of Olga's Place and Sven's Garden, another outdoor area on the Johanneberg campus is set to be refreshed. This time, Rännvägen will transform from a backstreet to a playful main thoroughfare.

Rännvägen is considered one of the main thoroughfares of the campus, running in a north-south direction. Today, the street is described as a "functional pathway with a backstreet feel," which is not necessarily an epithet the street itself would have chosen if it could.

But now things are about to change: Akademiska Hus will, starting in week 32 (5 August), redevelop Rännvägen into "an active space where the path itself encourages movement." This will be achieved through green plantings, seating areas, and alternative routes. According to Akademiska Hus, the natural forms of these arrangements will make the area an example of how to encourage activity and learning and activate the urban space in a playful way.

Among other things, different levels will help create a sense of different rooms along the thoroughfare, which is hoped to contribute to both creative thinking and relaxation.
However, the functional past of Rännvägen will not be entirely erased: the possibility for cars and lorries to access the area, when necessary, will still remain.

The work on Rännvägen is expected to be completed by the end of November. Accessibility in the area will be limited during the construction period, and all types of traffic are therefore urged to find alternative walking and cycling routes during this time.
