The IT office at Chalmers has recently launched a standalone website to inform about service disruptions, even in the event of major system failures.
This new website is part of the university's efforts to secure its communication channels during significant disruptions. The service disruption site is completely detached from Chalmers' other IT infrastructure. This means that regardless of what happens to the internal systems, the new website will remain accessible to disseminate important information. Even in the event of a catastrophe, where all other communication channels are unavailable, this website will still function.
Philip Jirevall, Head of IT System and Services, believes this is an important measure considering the current geopolitical situation.
"Many educational institutions are moving towards this type of solution. Should there be any kind of failure or cyberattack against the institution, we want this site to be outside Chalmers' existing infrastructure to enable continued information dissemination."
Links to the site are available on both Chalmers' intranet and the external website. No current structure is being removed; instead, the new platform serves as an additional tool.
