Recycling graphite from used electric vehicle batteries could be the way of the future to preserve natural graphite and at the same time create the super material graphene. Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology are currently investigating the possibilities in collaboration with Chalmers Industriteknik and the company Grafren.

"Here we work to make use of graphite that would otherwise be discarded. We want to create sustainable graphene production and make a valuable product out of something that would otherwise be thrown away. It's a fantastic project", says Martina Petranikova, researcher in industrial material recycling at the department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology
