For the second year in a row, Chalmers is hosting an Annual Ceremony — an occasion where medals and prizes are awarded, and a celebration is held in honour of the university.
This year, the Annual Ceremony will take place on 6 November, a date chosen to be as close as possible to the anniversary of Chalmers’ founding on 5 November 1829.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all that Chalmers has achieved over almost 200 years,” says President Martin Nilsson Jacobi. “And since Chalmers has always been deeply engaged with industry and the wider community, it is particularly gratifying that the event is open to the public. Everyone who appreciates what Chalmers stands for and is able to attend should feel warmly welcome.”
The ceremony will feature speeches by the President and the Student Union President, performances by the Chalmers Choir and the a cappella group Solala, as well as a short ceremonial lecture on X-rays by recently graduated PhD Martina Olsson.
The event is also an opportunity to present the Chalmers Medal and a number of awards recognising outstanding contributions: the Societal Impact Award, the Pedagogical Prize, the Areas of Advance Award, the Equality Award, and the Alumnus of the Year Award.
Attendance at the ceremony is free of charge, but registration is required as seating is limited. The dress code for the ceremony is dark suit or equivalent formal attire.
Following the ceremony in Runan, there will be an open reception in the Student Union building. Later in the evening, a formal dinner for invited guests will be held in the Union’s restaurant.
