Chalmers’ new master’s programmes give you more flexibility to shape your education around your interests and build skills for a rapidly changing job market.
As part of the new master’s programmes, Chalmers is introducing specialisations, a common flexibility window and minors. The optional specialisations allow students to deepen their knowledge within their master’s programme and will be included on their degree certificate. The range of specialisations can evolve over time in response to technological developments and changing needs in the industry.
Among the new additions is a master’s programme in space technology with a focus on NewSpace, building on Chalmers’ strong research in the field. Students will have the opportunity to develop, build and operate modern space systems, while also combining technology with entrepreneurship. Another new addition is a specialisation in game design and development within the master’s programme in Human-Centred Design and Engineering.
All master’s programmes will also include a common flexibility window during the autumn semester of the second year. During this period, students can choose to deepen their knowledge within their field or broaden their skills, either at Chalmers or through studies abroad. Students can also choose to take a minor, a package of courses in a complementary field such as entrepreneurship or leadership.
The new master’s programmes will start in autumn 2027, with a small number starting in autumn 2028. If you are already studying at Chalmers, you can apply to the new programmes through the local Chalmers application round in early April 2027. If you are already enrolled in a master’s programme at Chalmers, these changes will not affect your studies. You will continue to follow the programme syllabus that applies to your current programme.

Chalmers University of Technology offers two-year master's programmes taught entirely in English. Each programme comprises 120 credits, equivalent in scope to 120 ECTS credits. Upon successful completion, students are awarded a Master of Science (MSc) degree. The application period is Mid-October – Mid-January.
