Emily Riehl, Gaute Hagen and Xiao-Li Meng have been appointed as Chalmers Jubilee Professors for 2026.

The appointments were proposed by the Faculty Board’s working group for Jubilee Professorships, which reviewed the nominations received.

The three invited professors are:

  • Gaute Hagen, University of Tennessee, invited to the Department of Physics for six months.
  • Emily Riehl, Johns Hopkins University, invited to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for three months.
  • Xiao-Li Meng, Harvard University, invited to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for three months.

When Chalmers celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1979, the university received a Jubilee Professorship as a gift from the Swedish government. Since then, Chalmers has continued to allocate funding for the Jubilee Professorship, which aims to strengthen links with the international research community and bring in new expertise.

The Jubilee Professors are appointed by the President, based on nominations from the departments. Each spring, faculty members may propose candidates to their Head of Department. To promote gender equality among professors at Chalmers, each Head of Department must nominate one man and one woman among the candidates.
