Health Care Environment research group at the Sahlgrenska Academy
Care environment research is aimed to investigate the surrounding environment’s importance for health and well-being. The environment aspect covers both the objectively visible milieu around us as well as the subjectively perceived environment, the psycho-social dimension, which can be difficult to define.
In research on care environments, it is important to approach the issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. This insight has been around for a long time, but has now been formalised in a collaboration between the Institute of Health and Care Sciences at the University of Gothenburg and the Centre for Healthcare Architecture at Chalmers University of Technology.
The hope is that research issues in the care environment will be clarified both practically and academically and that research results will be more widely disseminated. Several planned and ongoing projects already exist, but now a joint, formalized structure is being created that will contribute to increased efficiency and impact of the collaboration. The Centre for Healthcare Architecture and Healthcare Science's collaboration and cooperation will now be made more visible to the outside world, financiers and universities.
Within the framework of this collaboration, Helle Wijk, professor at the University of Gothenburg, has been appointed visiting professor at Chalmers University of Technology for three years.
