In 22 April, nearly 100 guests; companies, researchers and decision‑makers gathered at Chalmers for the 2026 WACQT Industry Workshop - a full‑day event showcasing the rapid development of the quantum ecosystem and the growing industrial interest in real‑world applications.

Overall, the 2026 workshop highlighted how quickly quantum technology is moving toward practical use and underscored WACQT’s role in helping industry understand and engage with this fast‑moving field.

The programme opened with updates on WACQT’s progress and current collaboration models, alongside perspectives from the Swedish Centre for Quantum Technology. This was followed by industry and public‑sector presentations illustrating how organisations are beginning to engage with quantum research, sharing experiences, opportunities and challenges as technologies move closer to deployment.

A central part of the day focused on the expanding Nordic quantum infrastructure. Participants received an overview of available quantum and supercomputing resources, including national, Nordic and European capabilities, and how companies can start exploring quantum technologies today.

Later sessions examined the journey toward “quantum utility” - when quantum systems begin delivering tangible value for industry. These sessions included presentations on national initiatives such as SRA Quantum, information about upcoming funding opportunities, and a panel discussion bringing together representatives from industry, academia and the public sector to address skills needs, long‑term investments and organisational readiness for quantum‑enabled innovation.

The day concluded with a mingle, company expo and dinner, offering further opportunities to network, exchange experiences and explore how smaller companies contribute to the evolving quantum technology landscape.
