More awards and a live orchestra at Chalmers’ third Annual Ceremony

As Chalmers prepares to hold its Annual Ceremony for the third consecutive year, the occasion promises to be more festive than ever – but, as before, everyone is welcome to attend, subject to availability.

This year’s Annual Ceremony will take place on 5 November, the very date on which Chalmers was founded in 1829.

“It is a tradition that is still taking shape,” says Heidi Holst, Master of Ceremonies at Chalmers. “But the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Many of our guests represent the university’s external partners and friends, and several have explicitly welcomed this opportunity to celebrate Chalmers.”

Among this year’s additions is a performance of the ceremonial Chalmers Hymn by a live orchestra in Runan. Several new awards have also been introduced, including the John Ericsson Medal, which will be presented to a number of highly motivated students, and an award from the Student Union that will remain a surprise until the ceremony itself.

Another new feature is a series of short presentations by three distinguished researchers, offering glimpses into their research as a way of illustrating and celebrating Chalmers’ contributions to knowledge and society.

As in previous years, the Chalmers Medal will be presented, along with a range of awards recognising individuals who have made outstanding contributions: the Award for Societal Impact, the Teaching Award, the Areas of Advance Award, the Equality Award and the Alumnus of the Year Award.

Attendance at the ceremony is free of charge, but registration is required as places are limited. The dress code for the ceremony is dark suit or equivalent.

Following the ceremony in Runan, there will be an informal reception open to all attendees in the Student Union Building. Later in the evening, a formal dinner for specially invited guests will be held in the Student Union restaurant.

Registration and further details are available on the Annual Ceremony’s calendar page.
